 About Joseph

A Natural-Born Teacher

I've been teaching violin for over 15 years and I find that I just love to teach. I love those "aha" moments, and I love when my students accomplish something they thought they couldn't do.

In addition to teaching violin, I also teach the Alexander Technique, a method learning how to use your body so that it functions and feels better. Learn more here.

Want a second opinion? You are welcome to speak with a current or former student of mine. Just let me know and I'll put you in touch.

A Love of Performing

When I was young, whenever the plumber or family friend would come to visit, I would whip out my violin and play for whomever had just arrived. You could say that I love performing.

Over the years I've played with orchestras, string quartets, rock bands, singer-songwriters, jazz groups, tango dance bands, and in many other settings, as well.

I continue to perform regularly throughout the Philadelphia area. Here are some of the people I've perform with currently:

My Education

I grew up in California, where I studied Classical music with my Suzuki teacher and attended fiddle camp in the Redwood forests.

I graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 2006 with a BA in Jazz Studies.

I am also a certified Alexander Technique teacher. I graduated from the Philadelphia School for the Alexander Technique in 2012, where I am now an assistant teacher.
